Description: Over the course of nine days, at The Greenbox construction arts camp, students will experience process-based learning as they build meaningful projects and learn the basics of construction. With a safety focus, students will use basic hand tools to design and build structures to support the Greenbox art camp and their own imaginations.

Drop off/pick up instructions:

June 13 - 21: Students will need to be dropped at the Manitou Art Center (MAC)

June 22 - 24: Bus transportation from the SILC is provided. Bus will leave the SILC at 8:40AM. Bus will leave Green Mountain Falls at 2PM returning around 2:15PM.

Food: Snacks will be provided. Students will need to bring their own lunch and water bottle.

What to bring: Construction can get messy. While all the supplies your child will use during construction camp are child safe, they are not all washable. We ask that you dress your child in old clothing. Each day will include outdoor activities, so please make sure your child wears closed toed shoes. Safety glasses and protective gloves will be provided. Wear clothes that are appropriate for movement around a construction site, this includes no loose sleeves or other items. Also long hair must be tied back out of the way of any work to be done.

Additional Information: Please ensure your student is dropped off and picked up on time. If your student must miss a day of camp, please contact the teachers and camp administrators prior to the absence. Also, please ensure your contact info is correct on the rSchool website in case of emergency. If students are not participating respectfully or following instructor guidance, parents will be asked to come pick up their student. Any questions or concerns, please contact the teachers and/or camp administrators.

Monday, June 13 – Day 1

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-10:30 – Welcome to camp. Tour MAC, unload supplies

10:30-11:15 – Basic Safety

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – Basics of construction and project brainstorming, architecture tour.

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up.

2:00 – Pick up students

Tuesday, June 14 – Day 2

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-11:15 – Safety review/architectural tour

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – Brainstorming for project/basic build

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up.

2:00 – Pick up students

Wednesday, June 15 – Day 3

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-11:15 – Safety review/First house build

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – First house build

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up

2:00 – Pick up students

Thursday, June 16 – Day 4

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-11:15 – Safety review/Complete first build/assess

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – Assess first build/brainstorm second build

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up.

2:00 – Pick up students

Friday, June 17 - Day 5

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-11:15 – Safety review/Second build

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – Second build

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up.

Tuesday, June 21 – Day 6

9:00-9:30 – Student drop off. Snack

9:30-11:15 – Safety review/Second house build

11:15-12:15 – Lunch/Clean up

12:15-1:40 – Complete second house

1:40-2:00 – Clean up, wrap up.

Wednesday, June 22 – Day 7

9:00-9:30 – Students drop off. Snack at the pavilion.

9:30AM-11:00AM - Skyspace Tour

11:00AM-12:00PM –Hike/nature tour featuring trees and wood

12:00AM-1:00PM – Lunch/Clean up

1:00PM-1:30PM - Team Building Activity

1:30PM-2:00PM – Clean up, wrap up. Parent and bus pick up.

2:00PM – Bus leaves for SILC.

Thursday, June 23 – Day 8

9:00AM-9:30AM – Students drop off. Snack at the pavilion.

9:30AM-9:45AM – Introduction to the day

9:45AM-11:15AM – Free Build

11:15AM-12:15PM – Lunch/Clean up

12:15PM-1:00PM - Team Building Activity

1:00PM-1:45PM – Ballet Hispanico Performance 

1:45PM-2:00PM – Clean up, wrap up.

2:00PM – Bus leaves for SILC.

Friday, June 24 – Day 9

9:00AM-9:30AM – Students drop off. Snack at the pavilion.

9:30AM-9:45AM – Introduction to the day

9:45AM-11:15AM – Last day free build

11:15AM-12:15PM – Lunch/Clean up

12:15PM-1:30PM – Construction games/end of camp celebration

1:30PM-2:00PM – Clean up, wrap up.

2:00PM – Bus leaves for SILC.
